pretty shitty community

I'm going to quote only the last line per response to avoid massive walls of text, and I appreciate you having a constructive response to the beginning.

If you didn't feel his videos were worth it and you wouldn't mind potentially losing this content, then you wouldn't donate.

I understand and agree that people deserve to be paid for their time spent working, but Jewel_wheeled didn't hold employment, he was doing it voluntarily as something fun to pass the time. People will be paid whatever peoples services are worth, and I think the lack of donations from the community (the silent ones who are coming out of the woodwork to defend JW after Destiny makes a public opinion that people fucked up bullying him) shows that the amount he was asking for was unreasonable. However, the numbers he was using were being thrown around as the numbers for him to be paid as a salary if he were to be taken on as a full time employee. I have no gripe with people giving him their money, $200 a video, $2000 a video, plenty of less worthy stuff gets crowd-funded for ridiculous mounts so thats up to consumers, I just personally felt it wasn't a correct value of the time he spent and the quality of the work in relation to the benefits it would provide the stream.

find the service worth the money, or there's competition at a better pricepoint you need to adapt to the market or leave it. People absolutely have debt, myself included, with roughly $15,000 in student loans. I felt that broadcasting this debt in the video he made, twisted the entire thing into being "please help me I fucked up with my finances and have been jobless since October" rather than "I spend a lot of time doing these, I'd like to be paid if people feel they're worth it." and that is one of my larger gripes with the whole thing I suppose. I wasn't personally assblasted or anything, it just felt wrong to present the community with a sobstory and ask for donations. I'm not wording it how I'd like, but I hope you can understand what I'm trying to get across with this. If it was handled different I would have a different opinion. I don't think there was any expectation one way or the other for this service to be some massive stream-draw for Destiny, it was just fulfilling a service that Destiny himself didn't want to do for his already established community. Sure sure I agree %100, the paragraph you're replying to was more a response to the idea that Destiny should salary JW fulltime and post his videos on his youtube, and just how I felt it wouldn't be financially beneficial nor promote any notable growth in stream viewership because of the style of videos they were. Simply put again, 2 hour VODs from a year ago are great for us memers to watch, but not something you would see on any other successful streamer->youtube conversion, compared to strategy guides, meme videos with a lot of production on them, etc.

This paragraph wasn't meant to de-value his efforts in relation to the community, I enjoy JW videos because I'm a big Destiny fan, it was towards their value as a marketable asset towards the stream as a whole.

It's supply and demand. I don't see anyone stepping up to the plate to replace him, so the supply is pretty dry, the question is how big is the demand? This is another statement I have a problem with, saying that the supply is dry therefore he will be paid the amount, and find it quite ironic seeing as a new meme video (a very well made one to be honest) was put on the subreddit the same day JW asked for donations. There isn't another person stepping up to make 2h long VOD cuts sure, but there will always be someone making meme videos of destiny, or small stream cuts of a funny 3-5 minute section where he rants on stream. Maybe not literally the day JW decides to call it quits for financial reasons, but there have been people doing videos before and there always will be, it's part of being a member of the community and the people with the talents to make videos do so for laughs.

I have no doubt in my mind that JW will end up being replaced by some random memer in time, the same way he came from left-field and starting uploading his videos.

I'm going to the movies in a little bit tonight, so if you respond my response will be a few hours late again, either here if you wanted to continue to discuss it in PMs.
