I appreciate your efforts, PORTMANTEAU-BOT, but this one doesn’t work at all. These words share literally no phonemes, despite some shared letters. Portmanteaux are aural, not just graphic. I understand that there are plenty of instances where this approach works, but it doesn’t always cut it. Perhaps instead of looking for similarities in spelling—hazardous because English is so wildly unphonetic—you should be recalibrated to work off pronunciations. That’s a bit more work, because you’d have to consult know to a dictionary for stable phonetic transcriptions, but it would avoid embarrassing failures like this one.
