Why is victim mentality so common in America?

Human beings are problem solvers by nature. It's why we're at the top of the food chain. Over the last few hundred years we have gradually solved most of the problems being faced by the average middle class person. So we end up inventing problems to solve. And if there is no victim then there's no problem so naturally we get 'victims' popping up to provide these problems that need solving.

Try talking to a person in Somalia about the asshole baker who wouldn't bake you a gay marriage cake. Complain to a Chinese rice patty worker about Ajit Pai's assault on net neutrality. There are many other examples and they'll get you side-eye to anyone facing real problems.
