College is a predatory scam

I hate to say this, but you're doing it wrong.

The way to do college is

  1. Get half of your college for free by doing dual-enrollment and AP classes in high school
  2. (Ideally) get academic scholarships
  3. Go to an in-state state school
  4. Get a degree where you are doing something that's in-demand in the job marketplace
  5. (If possible) live at home/with family while attending college. If not possible, choose a college based on low cost-of-living in addition to low tuition, fees, etc.
  6. Work, full-time if possible, in your field if possible, while going through school.
  7. Don't take more classes than you can afford.

$28,000 in debt is not bad at all compared to the hundreds of thousands that some have done, provided you can get a decent-paying job in your field.

Not sure how journalism is going to do that, though. Do you know anybody hiring journalists, or people with journalism degrees? Are you going to add an MBA to it next (risking more debt?)
