'We fell well short': Warren team considers ending campaign

Imagine what would have happened if Sanders never got into the race. Warren would harness the progressive vote and cast a shadow that is positive and doesn't enable followers and surrogates to misbehave. The Twitterverse wouldn't have to act the way they acted because from the top, only positivity would be preached. Dems with bad blood from Bernie's 2016 campaign could have gotten behind Warren because they still like her ideas, but rather than insulting the establishment, she learns on it and navigates it.

I know several Warren voters who couldn't get behind Sanders because of the inherent toxicity they witnessed.any of them viewed railing against the Democratic establishment a dog whistle. I know tons of Biden voters who wanted to vote Warren but felt Biden was their only way to prevent Bernie.

So, instead of the "what if Warren had dropped out" narrative, maybe we should start to consider "what if Bernie never got on the race" instead?

Progressives made a poor strategic choice throwing their support behind Bernie and not Warren, and it backfired.
