He said he felt so guilty. As a Canadian, sorry dad. That's a big part of our culture you missed out on.

First of all I was refering to the meat in question (moose) and second of all whereas not all meats are bad for you the meat that isn't bad for you is basically just neutral to you, but bad for the environment. Yes, chicken is better than beef, but globally speaking you ought to not eat meat at all. Sure it tastes nice, but it also feels good to have sex with a woman - does that make rape okay? And yes I know that my last statement will probably make you go after the man instead of the ball thus showing that in fact you do not really have a real argument to stand on. Eating meat is bad. Period. I'm no fanatic vegan or anything, but just stating the obvious and objectional fact that eating meat is bad just as well as driving long distances in cars, using tons of plastic, smoking, etc.

The people who won't give up meat is akin to a child refusing to stop breastfeeding. Just because you are used to it doesn't make it the right thing. It is time to grow up and take responsibility not only for your own life, but also for those around you.

All that being said - I would prefer an animal to have had a life of freedom instead of the deplorable circumstances they often live under especially in the US (that shit is sick and people are sick in their heads for supporting it). This is not to be misunderstood - Meat that is sustainably farmed in a matter where animal welfare is of great concern is way better than game meat. This quote from Life of Pi I think sums it up nicely:

Animals in the wild lead lives of compulsion and necessity within an unforgiving social hierarchy in an environment where the supply of fear is high and the supply of food low and where territory must constantly be defended and parasites forever endured. What is the meaning of freedom in such a context? Animals in the wild are, in practice, free neither in space nor in time, nor in their personal relations.
