Nurses after a patient suffers a miscarriage.

I've seen my father in and out of hospital constantly for 10 or so years (until 4 years ago when his health finally improved, he's only just turning 69 this year too, so it was a rough ride for him).

The nurses have been so constantly amazing. We're actually good close friends with one in particular we met when he was admitted with an unspecified foot infection (It turned out to be Osteomyeletis, he's a diabetic and now an amputee). I've lost track of the bunches of flowers and chocolates my mum bought or even the cakes I helped make to say thank you to them all.

Then there was the crone faced bitch of a ward sister I had to deal with while my wife gave birth that thought she was an old-style Matron. The first and only nurse I've ever disliked. My wife had a rough labour (although a fast one) and when I finally had the child in my arms, I couldn't have been happier. When it was time to move on from the delivery suite, I went to hand the child to her to put in the little wheeled cot and said something like "Have you got a hold of her ok?" when passing her over to be told "Of course I've got her, do I look stupid? I've been doing this for 35 years, don't insult my intelligence". I'm a bit of a dick, so I shot back "Yeah, well I've only been doing it for around five minutes so there's no need for you to speak to any patient/family member in that manner".

I later heard my wifes doctor (Who was also amazing) chewing the arse out of her about 10 minutes later, the doctor even tried to apologise to me but I told her it wasn't her fault and not to worry, and that I appreciated her help.

All the other nurses were amazing, though. We had to go forceps assisted because of a tangled cord (around her shoulders, not neck fortunately) and they calmed my wife down amazingly by talking to her about everything and anything (Mostly TV soaps, eugh).

We got them all a big box of chocolates and a card to say thanks!
